PETA.. why is there such a group?

do those people who are part of PATE realize they help contribute to the killing of animals? like pam andersond would not wear fur, but more than likely her shoes are not made of plastic, they're made of leather. and what about the houses you guys live in.... cutting down a tree that was an animals home to make your own home, and the land you put your house on probably destroyed many animals homes? so there is no way some one can be completely animal friendly

PETA.. why is there such a group?
no, you're right. There's no way to be absolutely 100% animal friendly and zero impact. even if environmentalists ruled everything.

BUT there are lots of ways to lessen impact, and thats why groups like PETA exist. Groups like peta try to stop fur farming because we don't NEED fur. they try to stop animal abuse because we don't HAVE to abuse animals.

Groups like peta try to put options on the table. instead of corporate scum saying "all clothes will be made of seal skin, screw you and deal with it" you may have "heres' seal skin, but we also have plastic, hemp and so forth"
Reply:PETA - People Eating Tastly Animals

Yummm!!!
Reply:well there is no way to live completely without effecting negatively animals unfortunate, but leather in shoes is from cows thats bones have been often processed into things and dog bones (my dogs chew cattle bones) and the meat is used for food, and leather is the skin left over. Really leather is being the most resourceful with the animal ... but FUR is a whole different story, worn for the aesthetic beauty of the animals fur, often fox or mink who are not used for meat nor bones. They are prematurely killed for the sole purpose of their fur so vain people can think they look so nice in their fur clothes.... I do find PETA is extreme but also I believe they do raise some points on how to live more animal friendly, although I believe everyone knows it is impossible to live and never injure, kill or negatively affect an animal.... But a lot of the unnecessary killing just for vanity purposes and things is really just cruel
Reply:You're right, there's no way to live 100% animal and environment friendly. Every thing you do has an impact on the environment. However, the ethical treatment of animals usually comes into question where there is unnecessary suffering. THAT can be prevented or dramatically reduced. People who don't eat meat typically don't wear leather, fur, or down (feather). I'm wearing non-leather shoes right now.
Reply:To all the people who are against fur, fur is a renewable resource. Your thinsulate or fleece lined jackets will not keep you as warm as fur. They are made from petroleum products and they will not decompose when you are done wearing them. Fur is 100% biodgradable. Fur is the most environmentally friendly winter clothing you can get. Most fur is farm raised and wild trapped furs are not from endangered species. Nothing is completely animal friendly but when animal populations are well managed they live better lives than if hunting and trapping was eliminated.
Reply:yes, i agree and is there really any other way to test drugs, cosmetics, etc? i mean who will we test them on - plants?!? they don't have many similar DNA or characteristics to humans. but i guess any help/ support is better than none at all (for the animales - spanish for animals) :]
Reply:You must think people in PETA are stupid.

You also assume that they must be vegan ( you comment about shoes and leather) . If however they are Vegan, they will definitely have realized if their shoes are made out of leather, and will have changed.

They are for the Ethical treatment of animals, not for the not killing of. Although many are vegetarian/vegan

You are right- there is no way we can be 100% animal friendly. BUT its better to be 90% animal friendly that 0 %- and THAT is what PETA is about- doing everything we can do.

What you are saying ( "why bother" is basically your point as I can see it) is akin to saying " we cant cure all diseases, so why try to cure any? " . And I think that answers for itself.

I hope that helps answer "why is there such a group"
